![]() ![]() It just seems that the Hilton hotel that requires valet parking and claims to have security cameras (based on what we were told), and that this has been a problem in the past (again according to what we were told) should take responsibility for the damage done.As we inch closer to the end of the school year, another scholastic tradition appears on the horizon: The Great American College Tour. They did take off the $38.00 for our valet parking from the bill HOWEVER we are now driving home to deal with an insurance claim and a $1000.00 repair! Yes, I have the quote. We were told to file a police report online. The valets vacuumed the car to get the broken glass out of our seats and called the police because the other car that was also broken in to had a lot of blood in it. Nothing if any real value was left in the car. We had a cooler, dirty clothes, a few snacks and souvenir t-shirts. We had not called for the car so I am not sure how or when that was discovered. The valet knocked on our door around 8am to inform us that our car had be broken in to last night. My only problem was the AC would not go below 68 degrees and the light in the shower would turn off in the middle of showering, but overall a pleasant stay until our last morning. I went down to the front desk and we were promptly moved to higher floor. However, the first room we were given looked into the air conditioner and a concrete wall. We liked the security of using the room key to get to our floor. The hotel was very comfortable and well suited for a two night stay and a visit to the Columbus Zoo. We valeted our car which is the ONLY way to park at the hotel (more about that later). My only complaint about the room is that the shower/toilet area is a bit snug and I had to squeeze to get between the toilet and the shower door. I loved that they had normal size body towels that actually wrapped around my body and the bathroom products smelled amazing. I loved having the ability to close the sleeping area off from the rest of the room which allowed the early riser to get ready while other slept. Even though it was smaller then the first room the room was nice. The check in area was lined with people out the door and had to wait around 20 minutes to get our key problems fixed, which made us late to dinner. After getting all our stuff together and moving our new keys didn’t work and I had to go back down to the front desk. The girl at the desk was very sweet and moved us to another room (809). We carefully picked up the larger pieces and placed them in a mug that was also cracked and took it to the front desk to see what could be done. Upon further inspection of the bathroom/foyer area there was a bunch of the glass around the coffee station, in corner, and under the furniture piece containing the hangers and ironing board. Once in the room we settling in about to start getting ready when my sister noticed what she thought was a wrapper near the full length mirror, when she picked it up she realized it was broken glass (we got very lucky I had just walked through the area in my socks). We arrived around 2 hours before our dinner reservations before the game. I was able to pick my room using the Hilton app and picked room 1016 because it was a little larger layout and a corner room which is helpful with 2 girls in the room. We are also frequent guests at the Columbus Hilton but we decided to try this hotel because it was cheaper then the Hilton but still in reasonable walking distance to the arena. We are a big hockey family and are frequently in Columbus for CBJ games.
